It took a really long time, but things are finally coming together at our property. We have been at our 54 Acre property for 3 growing seasons now. The first was lost to simply moving in and getting settled. You all know how that goes! The second year we tried to work with the plants that were already here and we bought a few decorative plants ~ All of which were consumed by the Deerski Family.
Now, we love the Deerski Family but when you come out to the beautiful gardens you’ve planned and laid out so thoughtfully and there are no plants left, it’s fairly disheartening. So, Allan and I looked at each other and said, “We need a deer fence!”
This last spring (the start of our 3rd growing season) we built our fence. We were going to go very simply and cheaply but then we kept making it nicer and nicer. We even put a screen cat door in the fence so our 3 cats wouldn’t have to climb up and over all the time. Here is the video on our fence build:
Allan and I are so enjoying the beauty of our plants within our fenced in zone and I am even learning about many other beneficial and useful plants that I am adding to the unprotected areas such as Zinnias, Silver Mound, Bee Balm, Salvia, Tickseed, Sage, Catnip and Borage to name a few. We now have many native bees, hummingbirds and butterflies flitting around, it makes me feel so joyful! Here is a little tour of our garden from the other day:
Now, I am planning a fall garden of cool weather herbs and vegetables. This is going to be somewhat of an experiment but I am looking forward to learning a lot. The season is not over here in Wisconsin!
We have a lot more going on here than when I originally started on WordPress so I am very excited to share with all of you.
Have a beautiful day, Everyone!
