Being Home For Golden Hour ~ Weekly Prompts: Clock The Time

Golden Hour

Today is Saturday and it was shopping day. The county highway leading to town was littered with pick up trucks and there was a hub hub here in Wisconsin yesterday and today in anticipation of the 2019 gun deer hunt. A lot of people called in sick yesterday and area businesses will have issues through the entire season because hunting is more important than going to work. Everyone complained last year about it but if you live here you just accept that those that hunt are going hunting. Kick off was at dawn, this morning.

With as many folks as we saw along the highway, how do they not shoot eachother? Do they own that land, have permission to hunt there or are some of them trespassing? A neighbor told us that they approached a guy entering their property and when they confronted him that it’s private property he asked if he could go get his trail cam, he’d been there before. It was right across the street from their house.

The pub we go to every Saturday was so packed that we had one beer and left. That means that beer was my first meal of the day because I didn’t have any breakfast and now I didn’t have any lunch, either. That’s just wrong, in my life! We did try a new place that we liked but we didn’t get there until 2:00 p.m. and by that time, we were ready to sit back and relax, have another beer and split a Beer Cheese Burger. I guess we have a beer theme going.

Now that we’re satisfied I look at the clock and it says 3:30 p.m. I panicked a little because I wanted to be back home by that time for the start of Golden Hour. That was bar time, though, it was really only 3:10 p.m. Phew, I can still make it home for Golden Hour. We’re not very close to home, you see. As we left one person yelled, bye and happy hunting! I wasn’t sure if he was serious or making fun of us because we definitely don’t look like hunters. I actually thought he said happy humping which I thought was really odd so I didn’t even look at him.

We arrive home at about 3:30 p.m. and I race around to put the groceries away, grab my camera and my microphone so I can shoot some deer but they are not around so I shoot my cats, talk about our day and shoot the sunset.

I step inside for 5 minutes and as I step back outside, the Deerski Family is standing there so I shoot all of them, too, and sing a little song.

Loved seeing the deer by your house. We don’t see anything like that here. I can’t stand to think people shoot to kill these beautiful creatures. Yes – be save deer family. πŸ™‚

Oh, I’m so glad you enjoyed! We lived for many years away from wildlife and we just love being near and really, kind of a part of their habitat a little bit now. I try to remember not to take it for granted. Gosh, every time a gun goes off I think, I really hope that wasn’t one from our little herd, especially Buckaroo because the males seem so few and those are the ones hunters want ( I think, for the antlers…).
